RICHFIELD – In the sea of insurance and health insurance options, shoppers often encounter a good deal of confusion and pitfalls. Having a partner to help navigate those waters can be vital, according to Mark Malloy, director of sales at Richfield-based Packard Agency LLC.
“There are many options – many documents are sent by post, on television, online – and many people try to [shop] themselves,” he said. “We can reduce the plans to your needs. Insurance is a foreign language to most [but] we speak it very well.
Founded in 1979, Packard Agency, located at 4199 Kinross Lakes Parkway, is a distributor of products for individual, Medicare and group employer benefits. In addition to distribution, PackAgency develops marketing programs to help agents find new customers and provide them with ongoing support services, according to the company’s website at www.packardagency.com.
Malloy said Packard Agency works with most major insurance companies and the company’s “typical customer” is someone looking for an individual health insurance plan, as well as people over the age of 65. years or older and eligible for Medicare coverage plans. He added that the Packard agency also serves people between the ages of 62 and 65 who are disabled and eligible for Medicare, and the agency also provides annuity investments to clients.
The company develops plans for Medicare Supplements, Part D and Advantage plans; individual health care plans; group benefits; life, dental and vision insurance; travel insurance; and short-term medical plans.
On the individual health plan side, Malloy said employee health insurance plans are still the norm for the majority of individuals, but the Packard agency can also provide advice on such plans.
“There are a lot of people still covered by their employers and that’s our number one recommendation,” he said. “But for some [an employer provided plan] doesn’t make sense or is too expensive.
Malloy added that Packard Agency also offers plans for sole proprietors and small businesses.
Along with more than 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, Malloy said Packard Agency’s personalized service also sets it apart from other agencies.
“What sets us apart, first, is that we are a local business,” he said. “We do business in other states, but 95% of our business is in Ohio.”
Malloy said the Packard agency offers free consultations and “customers will never pay us a dime.”
“We get paid by insurance companies when we write a plan,” he explained.
He added that currently the insurance industry is in the middle of its “busy time” of the year, with Medicare open enrollment for most Medicare beneficiaries until Dec. 7. The open enrollment period allows first-time and current beneficiaries to modify their plans.
Packard Agency office hours are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but agents can also meet customers on Saturdays by appointment. For more information, visit the website or call 330-659-9331.
